IRISH GREAT WAR SOCIETY

I was born and brought up in Swansea, South Wales but now reside in Co. Cork.

My interest is in the Great war and the Second world war. My father and four uncles served in France during the Great war, my two brothers and an uncle served in the second world war. I myself lived through the second world war and served in the RAF from 1953 to 1956. My father was in the Welsh Regiment and was a signaller, One uncle was in the Cavalry and his saddle and equipment can be seen at my exhibit along with other items used by my family during the Great war. My two brothers were in the RAF during the second world war and served as Wireless operators / Air gunners in Beaufort Torpedo Bombers and Lancaster bombers, I was a Pilot during my time in the RAF. My collection is extensive and covers the period from the Zulu wars (Rorkes Drift) to 1956.  

Interested in Cork and WW1. Have a particular interest in Irish soldiers who served in North Russia as my grandfather Pte Edward Gallagher was killed in action on 10/08/1919 in North Russia and is commemmorated on the Archangel Memorial in the Archangel Allied Cemetary. For more of the above see

Interested in all things to do with the Great War. Always up for battlefield tours but always seem to get Iraq and Afghanistan instead of France and Belgium.

HELLO EVERYONE GREETINGS FROM WATERFORD CITY I AM CURRENTLY EMPLOYED AS A TOUR GUIDE DOING BOTH WALKING TOURS AND MUSEUM TOURS FOR WATERFORD TREASURES MUSEUM. ALSO INVOLVED IN A HERITAGE AND ART GROUP CALLED FADO ,HOPE TO IN THE NEAR FUTURE DO A  PROJECT CONCERNING MY PARISH BALLYBRICKEN AND THE SMALL PART IT PLAYED IN THE GREAT WAR

My name is Regemortels Leo and I am a Belgian Reanactor.

My main interest is the Irish Guards .

I have been given the privilige and honour to join the Irish Guards Association.

Why the Irish Guards?

Because my late uncle lies buried in New-Market on Fergus ;Co Claire.

His sister had married an Irishman by the name of McMahon in 1919.

There for I chose to portray an soldier of Irish origine.

I am the grandson of Thomas J. Hussey, Gnr, R.A. and R.G.A. who served during WW1. he was from Co. Westmeath, Ireland, and he served on the western front and in the middle east he marred late in life as did my Dad, that why at 35 i have a grandfather who was in World War one. I am proud of him and all the men who fought in the great War, Especially the irish who fought. I have his two war medals and they are among my proudest possessions.
