About Me

My interest in the Great War is derrived from my family history research and the discovery that my paternal grandfather and two maternal cousins (brothers) were all killed in action in the 'war to end all wars'.   I spent nearly three years researching and writing a history of my grandfather's life and experiences on the western front, which led to a wider interest in that conflict.  

Have only been on one battlefield / CWGC  tour in France and Flanders but would like to one day follow in my grandfather's footsteps (not literally!!) by travelling the route he trod from Artois to Picardy and Pas de Calais.  

Joined the IGWS just to take photos and videos in April 2010, but have somehow become more involved... (much more involved!) and enjoying every single minute of it!! 

My main hobbies are genealogy, military history & photography.

I was priviledged to join the training weekend at the ' Wexford Trench' over the 10th/11th Apr even though I got a bit of a dunking in one of the water filled shell holes. Greatly impressed by the enthusiasm, interest, knowledge and humour of all those that were there. I would like to wish the IGWS all the very best of luck for the future.
